I've been reading a lot of light, fluffy yuri lately. I was reluctant at first to read stuff that's set in high school, but now I kind of love it. It's perfect when you want something cute and fun to read. :D Anyway, ONTO THE MANGA!

Nov. 21st, 2010 03:31 pmFLIST! How many of you have seen Xena: the Warrior Princess? I remember watching a couple episodes when I was a kid and being impressed by her badass-ery, but that was it until recently.
I watched the first 4 episodes yesterday, and OMG. I AM IN LOVE. IT IS SO CAMPY AND AMAZING. Xena is badass and hot and Gabrielle is funny and also hot. It has RIDICULOUS FIGHTSCENES where Xena kills like 5 guys with one throw of her magical sentient Frisbee. Xena can stop swords with her motherfucking BARE HANDS, because she is that much cooler than you.
She has a TORTURED PAST and is trying to be good now but everyone thinks she is still evil!warrior!Xena but in reality she is good!warrior!Xena, new and improved and still hot.
I love her outfit and I love the horses (yay horses \o/) and I love the Xena/Gabrielle scenes. Gabrielle! I love Gabrielle. At first I thought she was annoying but then I realized that no, she is just talkative and cute and compliments Xena's smirkyness perfectly.
She and Gabrielle ride around and fight crime and stuff and stuff. It's amazing, okay. I loooooooove it. The ridiculousness makes me lol a lot, but in a good way. It's fun! I wish I had someone to watch with me, but I don't know cool people irl. :(

Somehow the concept of blackface was brought up and both of my sisters AND my mom said they didn't know what blackface was and they didn't see the problem with (a white person) dressing up as a black political figure for halloween (for example, Obama). They asked if it was okay to dress up as other presidents (like George Bush), and when I said it was fine they said I was the racist one. RIGHT. Because it's not like blackface is SERIOUS BUSINESS or everything, people are so OVERSENSITIVE these days.
Then they said if it was okay to dress up as a police officer for Halloween, it was okay to dress up as a Native American. BECAUSE THEY'RE THE SAME THING, OBVS.

But I hate Eminem (CREEPY BIGOTED DOUCHEBAG) and I also hated the music video in question, which was badly done and I could write an essay on how problematic it was, but I'll spare you the details. I don't want to look like I support the video or think it's awesome or anything. :( SIGH. Talk about first-world problems.
On another note, on lj spotlight I keep reading "Russian-based photography" as "Russian-based pornography." Every single time, and then I giggle like an immature 12 yr old boy who just told a 'UR MOM' joke. (Interesting sidenote! I love your mom jokes. I make them ALL THE TIME. Don't judge me. :'( )

Every time I read other people's status updates I make a D: 'BUT I THOUGHT YOU WERE NIIIIICE' face. Like, so far there's been shit-talking about other people and narcissistic proclamations of perceived sexiness and emo music quotes. YEAH, EMO MUSIC QUOTES. WHO DOES THAT?
So, question -- are people just meaner on facebook because they just want to blow off steam or is facebook behavior an actual indicator of someone's ~real personality? I mean, everyone is mean on the internet sometimes, it doesn't mean they're a bad person. But, like, CONSTANT DOUCHEBAG BEHAVIOR IS NOT OKAY.
