You know what sucks? EVERYTHING.

Okay, that might be an exaggeration, but I'm feeling super mopey today. Issue on my mind: With my little sister, it feels like I'm always defending her but I can never depend on her to do the same for me. It's depressing, that's what it is.

Even more, sometimes she'll agree with me on the issue on hand but STILL sides with the ~opposition. Ultimate betrayal. :[

Example: I was talking with some family members about how one of the instructors at the gym pretended to speak Chinese the other day. Like, he actually spoke gibberish and then was all LOL THAT'S HOW CHINESE PEOPLE SOUND LIKE!

He also calls my mom 'Costa Rica.' She's from Venezuela. I don't even know with this asshole, wtf.

AAAANYWAYS, I'm not sure how this turned into a fight? I'm pretty sure we can all agree that the dude is fucking racist. Tho my mom said that he doesn't THINK he's being racist. I still don't understand how that's relevant to... anything, but I digress.

tldr; my sister told me to shut up and said I was being too ~angry and irrational and did that thing people do when they look at you like you're a stupid fuck unworthy of their attention. And I KNOW she agrees with me on this specific issue, but apparently backing me up would conflict with her constant need to belittle and undercut everything I say.

Whatever.

Alright that must be really fucking frustrating. Seriously people who agree with you but can't admit that they do agree in front of others are just so fucking annoying. (Hi, it's three am where I am which means I curse more than usual and should not be allowed to write comments this late. XP) And why even do it? I mean of course she must know that you know she agrees with you but why would she want to belittle you? That makes no fucking sense. I am very unsure if I make sense right now. Ignore me. I should just have said something lone the lines of "Oh, how annoying I can totally understand why you're angry and frustrated". That sounded so much better.

I was thinking about it and my ~theory~ is that she goes the belittling route because she doesn't like conflict and telling me what I'm saying is stupid is the best way to shut me up (and therefore end the argument)? EVEN THO SHE AGREES WITH ME. And it would be just as easy to try and make the other person shut up. SOMEHOW THIS REALIZATION DOESN'T MAKE ME FEEL BETTER. :(

Give the extra polite behavior that really means 'fuck you'. For ex. "Have a *nice* day." (complete with big insincere smile)

And what can anyone say? Shame on you for being nice to your sister?

My only other advice involves a stick and a human pinata. Which might get you arrested. So, you didn't read that.

Other than that, not much you can do when it comes to family. Avoidance, maybe? I have family members I haven't spoken to in years.

oooh, I should definitely try the cold politeness thing. I'm actually really bad at pretending I'm not upset tho, so I'll have to practice or something (lol). :P

I still live with them so avoidance is rather hard. :[ But soon! I love them and all but seriously, too much fucking exposure to your family is never a good thing.
