XENA THE WARRIOR PRINCESS

FLIST! How many of you have seen Xena: the Warrior Princess? I remember watching a couple episodes when I was a kid and being impressed by her badass-ery, but that was it until recently.

I watched the first 4 episodes yesterday, and OMG. I AM IN LOVE. IT IS SO CAMPY AND AMAZING. Xena is badass and hot and Gabrielle is funny and also hot. It has RIDICULOUS FIGHTSCENES where Xena kills like 5 guys with one throw of her magical sentient Frisbee. Xena can stop swords with her motherfucking BARE HANDS, because she is that much cooler than you.

She has a TORTURED PAST and is trying to be good now but everyone thinks she is still evil!warrior!Xena but in reality she is good!warrior!Xena, new and improved and still hot.

I love her outfit and I love the horses (yay horses \o/) and I love the Xena/Gabrielle scenes. Gabrielle! I love Gabrielle. At first I thought she was annoying but then I realized that no, she is just talkative and cute and compliments Xena's smirkyness perfectly.

She and Gabrielle ride around and fight crime and stuff and stuff. It's amazing, okay. I loooooooove it. The ridiculousness makes me lol a lot, but in a good way. It's fun! I wish I had someone to watch with me, but I don't know cool people irl. :(

YES OMG I LOVED THAT SHOW SO MUCH WHEN I WAS A KID. I would srsly record it every week on little labeled VHS tapes and watch it over and over again with my little sister. If I'd been a couple of years older, I would totally have got into fandom for it. Xena/Gabrielle was an awesome femslash ship and Xena/Ares was the first super unhealthy ship that I absolutely loved. I rewatched it all a few months ago and I still love the ridiculousness of it all, cheesy 90s special effects included. XD

so yeah, I am super on board with Xena!squee and will not judge you for your love of enjoyably terrible TV shows. :DDD

:D OMG, I'M SO SAD I MISSED OUT ON IT WHEN I WAS LITTLE. I remember watching a little bit and being really interested in her outfit (LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT, Y/Y), but then my dad changed the channel. I haven't seen Ares yet because I'm not that far in but I've hear about him! I am excite.

\o/!! I AM TRYING TO CONVINCE MY FRIENDS TO ENJOY IT WITH ME! Sadly I do not think they appreciate terrible tv shows and cheesy 90s special effects (but the cheesy 90s special effects are the BEST PART).

IT WAS AWESOME. I don't think I can overstate how much I loved that show when I was little and it was just as delightful on the rewatch. I'm so jealous that you get to see it all for the first time!

It starts hitting its stride towards the end of S1/start of S2 (Callisto/Xena = fantastic femslash hate!sex ship), S2 is AMAZING, S3 is angsty, season 4 is shit but again with an pretty blatant new femslash ship going on, season 5 was apparently unpopular but I loved it, and S6 was weird but decent. Ares shows up pretty soon, iirc, but he gets more involved as the series goes on - I shipped him and Xena like it was my job when I was younger (and still kind of do even though it's appallingly unhealthy.) Oh, and then you have characters like Joxer and Autolycus and Caesar (unf, Karl Urban) and Aphrodite and I LOVE IT. Your friends clearly have no taste but I will totally squee with you at every available opportunity since I'm now all nostalgic and happy. *_*

(late reply is late, srry. i was distracted by food~~)The fun thing about watching older tv shows is that you don't have to worry about them being canceled. No new episodes, unfortunately, but you get marathons and everything is so new and shiny~

Ooh, I saw a few pictures of Callisto, and now I can't wait for her to show up. SRSLY. HATE!SEX SHIPS ARE MY FAAAAAVORITE. Now you've made me excited for Ares as well, lol. Appallingly unhealthy relationships are so much fun to ship, omg. :DD For thanksgiving break I plan to do nothing but watch Xena episodes all day. IT WILL BE GLORIOUS \o/

yay! \:D/! ia, ia, they obviously have no taste. I'm going to do my best to convert at least one of them to the glory that is Xena, but idk, they're pretty stubborn. Sigh. Some people, man.
