True Blood 3x01

So I watched True Blood 3.01 last night, and... I HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS~~

First of all I want to talk about the scene with Tara and Arlene. Tara defends Eggs, says none of the murders were his fault (they totally weren't, btw) and Arlene says something along the lines of -- Why, what made it not his fault? Slavery? Tara flips her shit (understandably), Lafayette leads her away (♥) and then Arlene says, obviously distressed, "I hate when they make everything about race!"

This scene was a holy shit oh-no-you-didn't moment, I kid you not. But I liked it. I thought it highlighted the ignorance and racism of Arlene, and the racism that is often present in people who whine about "pulling the race card." After all, Arlene was the one who was making it all about race, not Tara -- she's the one who brought slavery into the conversation (proving that race was first and foremost on her mind). I didn't get the impression TPTB were agreeing with Arlene, even though none of the characters called her out for comments -- the scene was set up in such a way that showed she was at fault.

That was my take on it, anyway.

The Bill/Sam scene? YUM. As much as I appreciated it (and oh boy, I sure did) I really wanted them to show an Eric/Lafayette dream, one that involved a lot of touching and nakedness. The Bill/Sam scene was rather tame, especially for True Blood, and obviously they should make up for it by having a hot and heavy Eric/Lafayette dream sequence, amirite? hey, a girl can dream.

JESSICA! \o/ She is one of my favorites, even if she totally killed a dude. He was a nasty douchebag, but probably didn't deserve to die. D: Don't worry, girl, I still love you. Now take that body out of the house before someone finds it and shit gets real, damn.

I'm starting to like Pam, she's kind of awesome. Still think Eric is a dick though, even his hot body and killer abs WILL NOT SWAY ME. But if he has more shirtless scenes I might become... more tolerant of him. :D!

Last but not least, LAFAYETTE. I love this dude, and he was looking hot last episode. ngl, I'm kind of insanely attracted to him, like, all the time. It makes watching his scenes distracting, NOT THAT I'M COMPLAINING. The way he told Tara's mom to fuck off pleased me. I can't stand her mom, she's so self-centered and destructive and doesn't care about Tara at all. Everytime she shows up I have the insane urge to punch her in the face. >:(

This episode was super fast paced, something I can ~appreciate. I think I'm going to go watch it again. :D

"I'm starting to like Pam, she's kind of awesome."
I loved her from the start. She is several kinds of awesome.

Lafayette is love! I'm so glad they decided to develop his character.

Unfortunately, Tara is spending too much time having her life fucked up and Sookie...
Well, I worry how they'll continue with her. There is a touch of, I don't know...mindlessness in her actions..., that I don't like.

But all in al - glad that TB is back and *thumbs up* for the episode.

She is! Now I'm curious about her (implied?) hooker past, too.

I heard that he dies in the books and I'm so glad the series decided to ignore that part, lol. The show would be infinitely less awesome without him. :D

You're right on with Sookie, she's just so... idk, she doesn't seem to think at all. The scene where she tells Tara that she helped Eggs remember what he'd done was -- goddamn, girl, WHY WOULD SAY DO THAT. D: I'm starting to find her annoying. :| I used to love Tara, but now she's been all depressed and stuff and I just can't get into her character as much.

Yeah, kinda sad when two lead female characters start to annoy.
I tried reading books. - didn't like them. Mainly because of Sookie.
