WHAT THE FUCK, CANADA

Time to end pelvic exams done without consent
Medical students routinely practice doing internal pelvic examinations while surgery patients are unconscious, and without getting specific consent, at least in Canada.

This pisses me off so much I don't even. That is a clear violation of rights and I cannot believe it's legal in Canada. They say medical students need to learn pelvic examination techniques, and women might not consent to having such an invasive examination done if it is not necessary. Yeah, well, TOO FUCKING BAD. Women's bodies are not fucking playgrounds for fumbling med students to practice on, what the fuck.

Why don't the medical students practice on female med students? Oh, right. They shouldn't have to put themselves up as guinea pigs. That's what patients are for.

~~Medical students routinely practice doing internal pelvic examinations while surgery patients are unconscious, and without getting specific consent, at least in Canada.~~

Without consent, I'd consider that rape. And I would sue the hell out of the hospital that allowed it and the actual student(s) that did it. I would make a damn big noise about it.

I agree. Just because a medical student did it doesn't mean it's not rape, wtf. They did a survey and apparently 70-ish % of med students have done pelvic examinations on patients without consent. Just... ugh. WITHOUT CONSENT = RAPE. Why is that so hard to understand?

WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT SHIT. I just, I don't have words. AUGH, I kind of wish I hadn't read the whole article because I am SO MAD right now.

I also don't have an appropriately angry gif to give you, but since I kind of feel like flailing around and kicking things because of that article, this will have to do:

I've told several people about it and none of them believed me at first. It's so shocking and makes me so enraged, ugh.

That gif works! It made me laugh (inappropriately). His little >:O face, omg.

WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK

I DON'T EVEN

They say medical students need to learn pelvic examination techniques, and women might not consent to having such an invasive examination done if it is not necessary

Yeah, that doesn't mean you should just go ahead and fucking do it on anybody and everybody, you motherfucking assholes!!!

I am so, so fucking angry about this. I would sue SO HARD. >:[

RIGHT? The logic is both rage-inducing and baffling. You might not get enough volunteers, so therefore it's okay to just practice on random unconscious women? WHAT THE EVERLOVING FUCK, PEOPLE.
