Swap Meat

I gotta say, I didn't really like the episode. IDK, something about the way they executed the body-swap plot; I would have much preferred if they'd had Jared act Sam-as-Gary the entire time and get the kid to act out Gary-as-Sam.

Also, if I were to body-swap with someone, I'd switch places with Dean and then spend hours watching Dean-as-myself jerk off in the mirror, naked. Sam wouldn't even be suspicious!

...too much? :D

eta to add:

Everything you said, IA. UGH, this episode was just DISAPPOINTING. Kripke really BROUGHT it before the hiatus, and then he DID hit the mark (or at least close to it) last week, but this fail!bodyswap was just BOOOOOOOOO.

I was disappointed. >:( This episode just seemed really BAD, especially in comparison to last week's episode. Goddamn, bodyswap means they're in other bodies! Just fail all around.

I couldn't focus on the first ten minutes of this episode because my embarrassment squick is... Well, embarrassing. And I kept imagining every potentially embarrassing that could happen and once I got over that I had to stop taking the whole thing seriously.

It felt completely wrong in this season. The tone of it felt... Odd.

Although I did find it okay...

Sam wouldn't be suspicious because I would want to swap bodies with him and go do... Eh... Stuff in front of another mirror somewhere. This sounds so wrong. Why do I think about these things? XD

My original purpose with my comment was to say that I really want to get back to the apocalyps now because I love the current storyline. But then I started thinking of Sam naked and everything just went downhill from there.

lmao! Well, just look at my post. I had a ton of stuff to say and it ended up deteriorating into 'UNF UNF DEAN NAKED WHOOOOOO!' It's very easy to get... ~distracted~ in this fandom, I must say.

Same here! I spent most of the episode squirming and covering my eyes. I may have muted it once. Or twice. Or for half of the episode. My embarrassment squick, let me show you it. XD

lol! Understandable, bb. Dean would also make fun of Sam/you foreeeeever.

Usually I mute stuff, this time it was so bad that I could only watch one minute before I had to pause it all and do something else and then watch another minute and then pause and when I got over that I was squirming a lot. XD

Yes he would... XD

I knew not to expect miracles considering the writers. Julie Siege did the teleplay, and I think she's the one responsible for 'Fallen Idol', too. There were at least three writers in the titles too, the ones who basically work off a Sam-and-Dean manual, but don't really get the show.

Sigh. I wish Ben Edlund and Sera Gamble would just write the rest.

Oh, really? I never pay attention to who writes the episodes, but now it makes sense. Sam-and-Dean manual is the perfect way to phrase it, really; like, technically stuff was there, but everything felt off or something. Fallen Idol was a travesty. D:

It started when I was working my way through the first two seasons on DVD - I would watch an episode, love it, and then check the writer and director. There seemed to be a pattern. :) I especially loved episodes written by Sera Gamble & Raelle Tucker, as well as episodes directed by (the one and only) Kim Manners. So now I pay attention to that sort of thing. And Production Design, and Executive Producers... I dunno, sometimes a show is only as good as it's crew. And SPN has and amazing crew - which is why it's so noticeable when newbies come in to write or direct.

I heard that there actually was a manual. They have to keep the show's mythology straight and the general plot arc so a writer doesn't come in and create a massive plot hole. But with this show, you really have to know what's going on and understand the characters. Otherwise you get episodes like this.

Yeah, I wasn't a huge fan of this episode either. :(

And your macro made me choke on my drink just a little bit, just so you know. XD

[identity profile] cornhobble.livejournal.com 2010-01-31 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. It was just... meh. :(

\o/ SUCCESS! I've been waiting forever to use it, haha.
